1st Strip

First an apology. Whilst I have been playing with the TZR over the past months, and have been taking photos, I haven't been updating this blog at all. My aim is to try and catch up the last 5 months of slow progress to the best of my memories ability, starting now.

These are a couple pictures of the first time I had all of the panels off and had a look at what I was getting myself in for. Whilst it wasn't immaculate it also wasn't too bad.

Next on the list was to get in and have a look at the clutch, to see if my running problem was going to be a quick fix or a full rebuild!

Before.

Here it is in all it's 'glory', straight out of the van after picking it up.
As you can see, it's not standard and there is a fair bit to do but, for the price, I can't complain too much.

The wheels, clocks, pipe and frame were all pretty tidy. The tank and panels had been brush painted black, by hand, and will certainly need to be sanded down (oh joy!) and resprayed, and the rest is a mystery that is waiting to be discovered. First plan was to find out whether or not I'd need to be on the hunt for a new gearbox or not.

Start.

So, I bought myself a 1989 Yamaha TZR 125.

I bought it on eBay in a 'sold as seen' condition, and as a runner but with a gearbox problem. The bike would start fine and sounded tidy when running but would engage into any gears allowing you to ride it. It is also missing the fairings and brackets, needs a new headlamp and has been badly hand painted black.

My aim is to try and restore it to somewhere much nearer to it's former glory. On a budget.
